Vintage French 18K Gold ENAMEL Paris Kiosk Charm 3-D Pendant Colorful Striking! Iconic symbol of Paris and a simply beautiful gold charm or pendant! Dimensional and highly detailed in richly gleaming 18 karat yellow gold and stunning shades of enamel: light and dark blue, green, orange-red and yellow, this diminutive rendition of a Parisian Kiosk is very eye catching. The words in gold block lettering include, "Mayol" L' A. C" "Opera" "Lido" and scrolling around the yellow banner below the emerald green roof, what looks like "Suze.
Substantial and 3-D, this piece can stand on its own - literally! The charm measures about 5/16" diameter by about 1" tall, including the loose ring at the top, which was cut when it was removed from the bracelet on which it was hanging.
It weighs 3.1 grams. It is hallmarked on the fixed bail at the top with the French eagle mark for 18 karat gold on one side and a makers mark on the other. The eagle hallmark is in the bottom close up.
It is in Very Good vintage condition, with just surface dirt, scratches and a little tarnish/patina on the gold, as expected for its age. There are the usual minor manufacturing flaws, including tiny dark spots in the enamel and inconsistencies in the making, including some of the lettering, that only add to its charm. With its theme and colorful enamel, this piece will make a great addition to your charm bracelet or worn on a chain about your neck as a pendant.
And when you aren't wearing it, it can stand on a table or shelf for all to admire. Although I doubt you will want to part with it yourself, it would also make a terrific gift - perfect for anyone, Francophile or not, who likes travel souvenirs, opera, gold charms, enamel or other jewelry, and will come to you in a gift box, just in case.
